This January transfer window is always a period of intense speculation and possible major moves. Several prominent players find themselves connected to transfers away from their current clubs. We examine some of the major figures that could be on the move in January.

A. Semenyo

Although Ghana's failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which has left the player available, reports suggest an important transfer is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal featuring a substantial release clause active for a brief period in early January. Recent reports point to the Premier League champions have emerged as his signature. M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has excel for Crystal Palace despite a previous move to Liverpool collapsing. With his contract due to run out in the close season, this represents the club's last opportunity to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. A host of elite sides, including Manchester City and multiple European giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. However, a winter departure is considered difficult, particularly given the coach's dependence on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

This Welsh winger has found first-team opportunities limited at Spurs this campaign. Although being the club's leading goalscorer last season, he has begun just a handful of league matches. It is understood the London outfit would be open to a sale for the right price, believed to be in the region of £40 million. Bournemouth appear to be leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an inquiry.

Spurs value the Welsh international at around forty million pounds.

Rúben Neves

This Portuguese midfielder might be poised for a return to the Premier League after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still only 28, while his contract ending in the summer of 2026, he is a possible bargain. Teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool have been connected to the player. Furthermore, there have been suggestions from Spain that he is prepared to accept a pay cut for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran Germany shot-stopper is now as third-choice at Barça following the manager Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and had surgery, a winter departure seems increasingly probable. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a potential destination, but that option now appears off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing interest in the keeper.

I. Toney

This prolific England striker has kept finding the net frequently in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his dwindling hopes of making the national World Cup. But, arranging a transfer poses significant challenges. His current club are reluctant to sell him, and his reported huge salary make any agreement difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as admirers.

C. Gallagher

The dynamic midfielder attracted considerable attention in the summer but remained at Atlético. With his current deal nearing its end, a host of English sides – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the developments. Juventus are desperate to secure the youngster to a new long-term contract but are in a battle to keep one of the continent's brightest young talents.

Kees Smit

This highly-touted Dutch midfielder has drawn parallels to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has broken into the AZ side. The teenager is widely expected to complete a big-money move this month. Newcastle are believed to be frontrunners, but could face strong competition from the Spanish champions for a deal valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
