Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
